In the first week on Kauai I've shot approximately 2000 images. And 2 weeks to go!

Livingston, Montana, July 2009

Nikon D80, Nikkor AF-S DX 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5, Nikkor AF-S 80-200mm f/2.8 D

I finally got around to having a look through some of the vacation shots I took back in July. We spent a week or so in Livingston, Montana - it's near Yellowstone National Park and is absolutely one of the most beautiful places I've been. I walked around this tiny town for a couple of hours on the morning before we left, with my wife and nephew in tow, just wandering and taking in small-town America. God bless the USA!

Birthday Camping Trip, in B&W (part 1)

A day in our life... a birthday (mine) camping trip (cheating - an RV trailer!) in Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta. I grew up near here and it's a favorite spot. These are some black & whites that captured the day. More to come - color, etc. This was my first chance to give my new Nikon D700 a workout, and it certainly did not disappoint.

Yellowstone National Park, 2009

Family day trip with most of the cousins (we're all vacationing in southern Montana); herding children does not make for the best photo safari, but I caught a few shots I liked. I take what I can! Yellowstone is an absolutely remarkable place; I could easily spend weeks there wandering with my camera (and fishing).

Luxor

Nothing says Las Vegas cheese quite like the faux-Egyptian theme at the Luxor - it's a gigantic black glass pyramid surrounded by stuff like this. Awesome!

More from Nelson, Nevada

These are called the "jumping cactus". Yep. They're that pokey.

Somehow these all seem like they should be in sepia. So they are.
