Got to the last three or four photos and decided that I liked a different action than I had been using all along. DOH!

Vintage Toy Duck (2 versions)

This one is with my own action - a quad tone sepia action with edge effects (inner glow, black, 100 pixels, color burn).

This one is with a "vintage" action i found on Adobe's Photoshop Exchange.

Personally, i think mr. duck is a little creepy.

Sunday Night Work, Pt. 2 (Colour)

A few to start.

Just a few shots that jumped out at me and said "boo!" while I was minding my own business sorting/editing. I particularly like the shot of Chris. Was going to give Kelly 3 chins but decided it'd be a crime to vandalize such a nice portrait. Guess my ego got in the way. Many more to come....

Main Street, Hanapepe

While we were on Kauai, we took a drive out to Hanapepe on a Friday evening. There, once a week (on Fridays) this dumpy little seaport town becomes a hotspot of local art and culture. We had a blast walking around and looking through all the artist galleries - it was quite a treasure trove. I didn't have time for a lot of shots but liked this scene on the sidewalk late at night, as everyone was packing up to head home. I could spend a week there shooting and not run out of things to see. You might notice the "Lilo and Stitch" painted on the wall; this part of Hawaii provided the chief inspiration for the setting of the Disney film of the same name (see here for an interesting article). Cool!

Gauges

A few years ago I shot the three dashboard gauges in one of my dad's lonely, battered-up old cars (old cars being one of my absolute favorite photographic subjects). I meant to hang them as a triptych and only ever got around to framing the right and left gauges... I really should print the big one! They were shot with an Olympus 4MP point n shoot so what I really need to do is reshoot them with my DSLR so they can print better; the left and right are 5x7 and the middle is 8x10, which are perfect sizes, but they could use the higher resolution.

Reminds me of how great Hawaii was. Definitely a recommended destination!

It's really great at demystifying the RAW format and how to use it in Photoshop. Highly recommended... it's quite incredible what you can do with the RAW converter before you get the image into Photoshop - almost all of the work, really. Very cool book. After two days I'm almost all the way through it. Buy it!
