Another of Tonight's favorites

Today's Favorite

For whatever reason, the strong blue seems to work best with this image. None of the other versions I've tried seem to have as much punch to them. More to come.

I luvs it

One of my favorite shots of this wedding thus far... that's all. I'm editing fast and furious today. More to come later - there's quite a few I like, if I do say so myself.

Sunday Night Work, Pt. 3 (B&W)

Sunday Night Work, Pt. 2 (Colour)

Sunday Night Work pt.1

Really tried to ramp up the "grain" on these to make them look rough & old, like high-speed film back in the day. The result is more successful in the full-size versions than the down-sized ones unfortunately.

More wedding pix

I've been drowning at work for the last few weeks, but now back in the saddle with wedding pix going fast & furious... i hope!

Some B&W's that i liked. Hopefully they're not too dark on the average monitor... my screen is calibrated with a photospectrometer and i never know how they'll look on other monitors.

Echinacea Purpurea

Lots of layers, toning and brushes with this one. Paper backdrop courtesy here, brushes here (great sites!)

A few to start.

Just a few shots that jumped out at me and said "boo!" while I was minding my own business sorting/editing. I particularly like the shot of Chris. Was going to give Kelly 3 chins but decided it'd be a crime to vandalize such a nice portrait. Guess my ego got in the way. Many more to come....

Just some flowers...

Shot with 105/2.8 macro. In Photoshop, burgundy/gold split tritone w/ contrast adjustments & localized burn-ins. That's it, that's all. Also working on sorting the Folland/Khatri wedding shots. I'm on about 150 of 1400.... Gotta stop taking so many pictures!

Calla Lilies

The full size image has subtle a subtle cross-hatch detail which unfortunately does not come through in the web-sized image. Working on flower photos lately... more to come. Oh, and a wedding this weekend!

Main Street, Hanapepe

While we were on Kauai, we took a drive out to Hanapepe on a Friday evening. There, once a week (on Fridays) this dumpy little seaport town becomes a hotspot of local art and culture. We had a blast walking around and looking through all the artist galleries - it was quite a treasure trove. I didn't have time for a lot of shots but liked this scene on the sidewalk late at night, as everyone was packing up to head home. I could spend a week there shooting and not run out of things to see. You might notice the "Lilo and Stitch" painted on the wall; this part of Hawaii provided the chief inspiration for the setting of the Disney film of the same name (see here for an interesting article). Cool!

Gauges

A few years ago I shot the three dashboard gauges in one of my dad's lonely, battered-up old cars (old cars being one of my absolute favorite photographic subjects). I meant to hang them as a triptych and only ever got around to framing the right and left gauges... I really should print the big one! They were shot with an Olympus 4MP point n shoot so what I really need to do is reshoot them with my DSLR so they can print better; the left and right are 5x7 and the middle is 8x10, which are perfect sizes, but they could use the higher resolution.

Grandma & Sonya

I enjoy a good black & white portrait... this one was a fortuitous shot while Grandma and Sonya were having fun with Sonya's new cousin Eli.
