First Shot

Nikon D700, Nikkor AF 50mm f/1.8.

I jumped in the deep end today... made the leap to a honest-to-goodness professional camera - the Nikon D700. I'm still hyperventilating a little because I actually spent that much money (business write-off!), but just having the thing in my hand for a few short hours has shown me that you get what you pay for. The quality of this thing is INSANE. Its got a full-frame sensor (same size as 35mm film), and the difference jumps right off the screen. I'm itching to shoot!

Cross-Andrusiak Wedding (Update August 19) - 2 of 2

I recorded an action to speed this effect, which I learned here. I like the look, though I think the author's name is poorly chosen. The noisiness is more visible with larger images. I'll post the action later.

Cross-Andrusiak Wedding (Update August 14)

So I've winnowed down from just shy of 1500 shots to about 190 that are keepers. Here's a quick favorite of the night. Probably be playing with this image more before I'm done - it's one of my favorites of the whole day. I gotta say those are some photogenic guys - makes my job infinitely easier. More to come!
