A walk with a new lens...

Nikon D700
Nikkor AF-S 16-35mm f/4G VR

The newly-released Nikkor AF-S 16-35mm f/4G VR is a pretty sweet lens. After a short walk and preliminary shoot today, I've noted excellent sharpness to all the corners of my new lens. There is a fair amount of barrel distortion at the wide end and a moderate amount of pincushion distortion on the narrow end, both easily remedied with a tool such as PTLens. I noted some occasional color fringing, worst on strongly highlighted edges. This is quickly remedied with Adobe Camera RAW. The lens handles beautifully and feels very well made. Focus is quick, silent, and the VR seems to hold it stock-steady. All in all, a beautiful lens!
